Adirondack Bliss

A glimpse into the wonderful vacation to the Daks that V and I took recently. Wish I were still there...

Victoria doing one of her favorite camping things: a hot washcloth on the face in the morning.

On the way to Algonquin and Wright peaks (both high peaks. I've done them both 3 times now, and this was the 1st for V.)

On top of Algonquin with my best friend.

On top of Wright looking at the town of Lake Placid.

Overlooking Heart Lake (where we stayed at the ADK Loj) from atop Wright.

Wright again, with Marcy (the most prominant peak in the background) the tallest peak in NYS.

A rock cairn on the way back down Wright.

Heart Lake. One of my favorite places.

Enjoying my morning coffee lakeside.

Heart Lake again, with Algonquin in the background.

My baby. This is the coolest road. As you drive into the ADK Loj, you get the most amazing view of the high peaks. Victoria couldnt contain her excitment.

Love it.

Cascade; the first high peak V and I did.

Bear love.

Our morning starter.

Cookin up some flapjacks on my trusty pocket rocket. They were slammin'.

Our awesome tent. It may be small, but the smaller the tent, the less space you have to heat with your body heat, and the closer you can snuggle to your honey.

A roarin' fire, the way my woman likes it.

Mountain Girl.

A sweet little cafe in Keene. Cool little town. Simple life.

She does love those bears.

A cool (and a little disturning) taxidermy shop. They had practicaly every animal you could think of stuffed and mounted: Flying squirrels, moose, boars, deer, bear...

and of course, what taxidermy shop wouldnt be complete without a lion devoring a zebra.

It was an awesome trip. Cant wait to go back...

Return

So, I know that when I dont post anything on my blog(s), the world as we know it stands still. And I must admit, that it has been a ridiculously long time since I last posted, but life sometimes gets ridiculous too. So here are the pics that I alluded would be coming in my last post. This is from an AWESOME trip with some good buddies. It was so awesome that I was inspired to create a third blog (http://cloudsplitters.blogspot.com/)to track the 4 guys from this trip and our goal to become 46ers. This was an amazing trip that brought me to 16 out of the 46. We did 4 peaks (all in the top ten) in 2 1/2 days. Without further babbling...
Me on top on Mt Haystack (3rd highest).

Haystack again

Some rock scramblin'

On top of Basin Mt (9th highest)

One of a couple ladders to assist in some steep sections

Late night munchies. Actually what happened was when we got to our lean to around 12 midnight, we just wanted to crash, so we stuffed all our food into our bear bin; it didnt fit and some pop tarts got crushed. This is us cleaning up the mess.

Jer C. and Tom on top of Haystack

View of Mt Marcy from Haystack

On top on Mt Marcy (highest peak in all of NY state)

Mario, Jer C. and Tom sizin' up Marcy before the final push

On the way up Basin

On top of Skylight (4th highest). Marcy in the background

Foggy woods

Sketchy "high water" bridge

Stream crossing
