Construction Begins

As I have hinted to in a previos post, myself and my good friend Mario have taken on the venture of building a 16' strip canoe. We are making it primarily out of basswood, with some ash and some cherry. I recently acquired the wood from the Rudd farm in Lacona, NY, and brought it home. We began construction today, tracing and cutting out the forms, to which the strips will be attached. Starting to get exciting. More to come...

This is one of the forms. Its basically the shape of the canoe, minus the mushroom stem and its upside down. Make sense???
